Google is jampakced with SEOcontest2008 competitors sites, all trying to claim the $1000 first prize. mmmmm...what abt me, i was bit busy with few more projects so totally ignored the competition. and sadly was running out of few $ last week to buy a great domain name and decided to sell few advertising spots in this page. mmm after that the this site which was in the top 20 most of the time for seocontest2008 jumped few pages down....mmm cant see me until the sixed page.

More than the competition i am doing this as a practice to brush up my SEO knowledge which i havent used much since last April. (thats when i left my job which was mainly about online marketing).

I am finding it bit difficult to do insite optimisation with blogger (may be because i am not used to blogger). Anyway im doing better than I thought with a Blogger address.
This site was in the first page of google for SEOContest2008 in the first day. Now droped to third page for keyword SEOContest2008 as I am not doing much link building.

As the competition goes on the top competitors will end up having sites which will draw thousands of visitors a day.
But how do you know how many visitors you get? Simply use a visitor tracking script. In my opinion Google Analytics is the best and its free. And thats what i am using in SEOContest2008

Google search for SEOContest2008 shows only 10 results

Google search for "SEOContest2008" displays only 10 results. i did couple of searches though out the day. Got bit different results each time. that means Google have indexed loads of sites who compete in the contest but displays only the best ten for some reason.

SEOContest2008 major TLDs are registered

got up this morning and thought of registering either SEOcontest2008.com or .net/.info/.org
but all are registered on 1st of February 2008, just before 4 hours
i would say that person who is competing with SEOContests2008.com/.net/.org/.info got a better chance of winning. though those are considered as new domains by google it will pickup well after few weeks (if the linkbuilding is good)

luckily with Google its not that bad, and the competition is based on google rankings
if with Live.com they give a lot more preference to the keyword in domain name.

Unlike the 2007 SEOworldchampionship which was aimed at selecting the winner from the rankings of google, yahoo and live; this SEOContest2008 will select the winner only by google.
